Happy Wednesday!

You might look at these photos and think; ‘here is someone who has it all together’! You would be so wrong in making that assumption. In fact, let’s talk about today… I burned a pot filled with soup that I was making for Allegra’s lunch. (Also, it’s worth noting that since Allegra has arrived, I think I have burned every pot that I own, so now I need to buy a brand new pot set, FUNNNNNNN). My husband got on my nerves because he was supposed to be watching said pot of soup while I put Allegra back to bed. This in turn made him late for work.  I on the other hand had the happy task of figuring out what to make Allegra for a substitute lunch. After looking through 15 different types of crackers and snacks, I decided to let the Nanny figure it out, because that’s what I pay her to do (just kidding, I’ll be ordering Uber eats or Postmates instead).
All of this and it’s not even 8 o’clock. As you might guess, this is not the way that I wanted to start my day (which by the way commenced at 4am). I took a few moments in the bathroom, and after several obscenities followed by a silent prayer, I began to laugh. What a crazy person right? Who in the world laughs after all of that? Well, in that moment, I recalled reading about 6 short stories on the HumansOfNY Instagram account last night. They were all stories regarding the genocide that took place in Rwanda, in a word they were both traumatizing and heart-wrenching.  The feeling of sadness that followed suit was unbearable! This helped me to put things into perspective, I immediately told myself; Girl, stop tripping! It will all be okay; all the things that you need, you already have and you’ve got choices to boot. Most importantly, you’ve got freedom! I changed my perspective, which changed my outlook on the situation. I called my husband told him about it, told him I couldn’t believe he fell asleep with the pot on the stove (I couldn’t let that one go y’all, lol) but ended the call by telling him we’re so blessed and to have a good day. I’m not trying to say that our situations don’t matter but in the scheme of things there is so much more to be thankful for than to be fretting about. Alright, now I have to be off to work, wishing you a very low-key and peaceful day.
