Question of the day: Could an inspired piece ever be better than an original? Most people would answer no, but I think there is room for debate on this!
When I first saw the Bottega Veneta “The Pouch” bag, I instantly fell in love. It is a classic, timelessly beautiful bag; however, when I saw the price tag $2,400 (before taxes), I thought “how much wear will I truly get out of this bag?!“ As with all luxury purchases, I seriously pondered this question. After days of researching how much the bag could fit, the exact sizing, the type of leather, would it easily scratch etc… I finally had to give into the realization that I probably wouldn’t get as much wear out of it as I would like given the price-tag. On the one hand, it is such a classic bag that I will keep it forever but on the other hand I may just end up selling it for the next amazing trend that I instantly fall in love with… (you guys know I fall in love with something new every week, lol) Alas… out the window went my desires of purchasing this bag.
But, sometimes fate has a way of stepping in and getting you to the right place at the right time! I recently got into thrifting, you’ll remember that I spoke about HATING the in-store experience because of a bad encounter I had going into one thrift store which was awful… the smell, the whole rummaging through already worn clothes was not my seen, so I left vowing never to do it again. I was convinced by friends that I should give it another try, I came to a compromise and decided to give it another go but it would have to be online. Somehow, in the midst of that search, I stubbled upon this beautiful image of what I initially thought was the BV bag. After clicking and going through the shop, I realized this was the most amazing find I could have dreamed of, the bag was $375 ya’ll. I read almost all of the reviews, I magnified the photos and re-magnified the photos, and when I was sufficiently satisfied, I placed my order for these two beautiful hand made pouch bags. Let’s get into the details:
The Bag: The Pouch Cloud BV Bag Genuine Calf Leather
Description: Soft oversize clutch in exceptionally supple leather (seriously exceptional). Magnetic frame enveloped in folds of buttery calfskin leather to create a voluminous, rounded shape. This clutch can be stuffed with all of your essentials with a grab and go feel.
My Review: It was so hard to keep this discovery from you guys but as I mentioned in my stories, I wanted to ensure that the bags lived up to their beautiful imagery and promised quality and design! I did not want to attach my name to something that was not of the highest quality! After speaking with the shop owner Cais, (who is friendly, helpful and most importantly prompt with her replies,) I was excited to get my hands on the product! I had high expectations, and I cannot tell you how incredibly pleased I am with this purchase! The bags are even more beautiful in person, everyone should have this bag, it is that GOOD. The attention to detail, the craftsmanship, I am a HUGE fan and have already purchased 2 more. Best of all is the deal, such great work at this price-point is hard to find! I know QUALITY and this is it!
Things to Know: 1. Cais makes each and every bag by hand (crazy, I know), as a result, it may take 2-4 weeks for you to receive your order. I received mine sooner than expected, which was fantastic! But don’t wait, place the order now! 2. The Bags com in two different sizes, the mini and this larger size! The mini goes for $250 and this larger size as I mentioned is $375. 3. The bags come in calf leather and vegan leather! I own some clothing pieces in Vegan leather and they are fantastic (I’m a big Nanushka fan), I considered getting the vegan leather in this but I wanted calf because I prefer the aged look of calf leather over all! The Vegan leather is a little less at $300, send Cais a note if you have questions about it! Confirming that the bags I bought was in Calf Leather. 4. She has the weave design… can u believe it?
