Today I am posting photos that are very special to me! I have no idea why I held on to them for so long other than to say that I didn’t want it to be real as yet; well that, and I am a picture hoarder (ask my friends). Mostly though, it’s because I simply cannot believe that Allegra turned 1 year old this summer! How in the heck did that happen? I vividly remember leaving the hospital the 2nd day after she was born thinking thoughts like, “WTF am I going to do with this baby?”, “Gosh, I hope I don’t get this all wrong”, “Damn, my body is bad ass”, “How on earth will I ever be the same after this”!
Just like the snap of a finger a year coasted on by. Throughout that year, i’ve learned to love deeply, to consistently put someone else’s needs/interests above my own, to allow her the space to grow as her own person, and perhaps most importantly, I’ve learned that I will get some things wrong but that it’s okay because this role requires on-the-job training. I want to give such a special shout-out to my dearest friends and family, I love you guys so much. You continue to be my village and a source of strength. To Allegra’s God parents who hold it down like none other, I am so beyond happy that we chose you two. Without further ado, here are the pics from Allegra’s first birthday party. She had a blast, she cried, but best of all, she felt loved! We won’t be having another huge party like this for some time so enjoy! Of course, if you know me, and you know my love for photos then you know, this is not it, more to come! 🙂
