Here goes nothing….

Three years ago (WOW, I can not believe it’s been that long), I had an idea to create a passion project that allowed me to share stories about “everyday inspirations” of mine. The premise is two-fold: the first is to focus on ordinary people who do remarkable things in their lives, who have in some way taken a leap of faith with their career and experienced success. This interview/expose (if we want to call it that) is meant to strip away the outer “glitz and glamour”, and take a peak behind the curtain to understand the pitfalls and hard decisions that have lead them to this point in their lives. Ultimately, giving a behind the scenes look to an audience who might be interested in understanding how someone navigated humble beginnings in a certain arena to get to this point in their career. The second, is to evaluate what does happiness mean to these individuals? Having achieved some semblance of success in their lives, how do they define happiness?

I was, AM super excited about this project! I said “was” because as I mentioned, I started this project 3 years ago. I left a very comfortable job that I had been in for 8 years and was about to spread my wings even further in an entirely new way; with a new, elevated position at an exciting company. Simply put, I felt INSPIRED, and I still do! I purchased all my furnishings and equipment, I conducted about 9 interviews and the ball was rolling… then I got pregnant! (Typing that just made me feel like I was 16 years old and got pregnant and ultimately had to put an end to this budding career; lol…not quite). However, although I was married (still am married) to a remarkable partner of 15 years, had an established career, a home, cars basically a life in some kind of order, said pregnancy did slow the ball down a bit. But alas; like a moth to a flame, the idea kept coming back to the forefront of my mind and since it is a passion, I refuse to ignore. With that said, i’ve gone ahead and picked the ball up again and plan to go live with my interviews January of 2019. I know, that sounds so far away right? Trust me it isn’t, but most importantly great content takes time to create and I don’t do things half-assed.

I wanted to share this news with you now so that you would hold me accountable. I know that once it is out there people won’t stop asking about it so this helps to keep me on-top-of my game. Secondly, during the coming months as I continue to develop this project I will be asking questions about things that you might want to see that could be meaningful to you. I’ll also be sharing my own story and providing some context for what prompted me to want to develop this project. In the meantime, Allegra has so generously offered to help me with practicing my interview questions and responses :). She has been a remarkable test subject, she’s even taken the interview chair and is ready to speak :).

Lastly, and in what seems long over-due, but quite appropriate to this post (given the background) are some photos of Allegra’s Christening from some time ago. It’s so funny looking at these photos because she’s all GUMS, and now she has teeth, lol. I had such a blast shooting this with her; what a life changing experience having a child has been. It’s super challenging, and fun, and adventurous but most of all it’s loving. Also, I should note that this dress is so special to me, I wore it during my pregnancy shoot in Madrid and just knew I had to find an opportunity to wear it again. I got the look tailored and thought what a way to bring things full circle by wearing it to her Christening. Admittedly, it was a bit extra but you guys know I always need to add a hint of glamour and I am so happy that I did! I hope you enjoy. See ya tomorrow!

P.s. – Her daddy was behind the camera so we didn’t get pics of him, I had to find some from the ceremony!
