“Yo-Yo-Yo, What the Dealy Yo” (in my most New York accent)

I always wanted to take photos in a corner store in the most ostentatious outfit imaginable. I don’t know that this outfit qualifies as such but this coat certainly does. The funny thing is that while these sort of shoots are very popular now-a-days they were everyday “winter weather” sightings during my High School days. I’d see both guys and girls wearing these crazy outfits dipped in fur and jewels and I always thought this is so fascinating. It’s considered borderline ridiculous, classless and vulgar to many a people, but to me it was always about this is the culture”, and I loved the fact that these people didn’t care what others thought. They bought their clothes and they were going to wear them, wherever and whenever. Now everyone tries to adopt the culture as their own, this too is fascinating in a SMDH kind of way. Nonetheless, this is homage to them, because I saw you then and I see you now. Thank you for showing me at a very young age that style is about character and personality, and you guys sure had a lot of it. Happy Tuesday peeps! p.s. – my complexion is all over the place in these photos because the sun was going down. You know the deal though, shorty is a browning.
