Now,  we’re 3! This is not going to be a post about SNAPBACK! I actually HATE that word. The idea that women are suppose to spring back into top-form after having a baby is stupid! Your mind and body are forever changed, get used to it. Today’s society helps to perpetuate the ridiculous notion that women should immediately begin working out to achieve their pre-baby weight. Ugh, don’t even get me started.

After this experience of pregnancy and child birth, the only thing that I can say is that I am so unbelievably proud to be FEMALE. Ladies, we are so BADASS, we need a new word for BADASS.

Once Allegra was born, I pretty much stayed in-doors for the first couple of weeks except for Doctor’s appointments. It’s a huge life adjustment bringing home a baby and figuring out what will essentially become your new normal. As such, I was mostly concerned with making sure my baby got the nutrients she needed to survive, and doing my best to make her as comfortable as possible while she adjusted to life outside the womb. I was too busy working on getting her to latch-on and figuring out how to work my Medela pump to give any thought to “getting my body back”. Honestly, that  DOESN’T EVEN MATTER. The number one thing that matters is the health and happiness of your child.

By making the above mentioned things my priority, an interesting side-effect occurred which was how fast my body began adjusting to its new-normal. The below photos are of me about 4 weeks after giving birth. My body reverted back to its previous state of normalcy. Muscle memory is an incredible thing, and the body adjusts accordingly. Since I was reasonably fit before and definitely throughout my pregnancy (I worked out up to 2 weeks before I gave birth), I found that my body went back to what it knew. I take no real pride in retaining my figure other than to say eating reasonably healthy and working out pays off in the long-run. It’s nice to have lost the weight so quickly but it wasn’t something that I actively worked towards and made my #1 goal. To each her own, but whatever you decide to do make sure that it’s what YOU want, not what everyone else is telling you to want. Anyway, this was my first real outing with my family and it felt Kellogs GREAAATTT!!

Until Next Time…
