I can’t get enough of denim! I hope this trend never goes out of style because it is so comfy, sometimes androgynous, sexy and edgy. I have decided to challenge myself on recreating 3 looks with this denim skirt being the main focus of the looks. I am doing this because I constantly get comments from co-workers/friends/acquaintances such as “do you ever wear the same thing twice?” and “how much clothes do you own?” The truth is that I don’t have a bottomless pit of clothing and I also do a purging every season to get rid of things that I will no longer wear or that no longer fits.

I try to invest and keep timeless pieces that I can wear forever but I am always purchasing my basics. Since they are not meant to last forever I have to keep swapping them out. I will confess that I do not like doing what I call “reruns”. By this I mean wearing the same exact outfit over and over again week over week. I don’t knock anyone who does it but I think it lacks creativity and challenging yourself to find different ways of styling your outfits so that they appear brand new. This is what I intend to share with this challenge. You’ll notice that there is a separate tab at the top in the menu bar named ‘Styling Tips’, this is where all of the looks will be posted.

Can I get a leg and thigh combo? Sure, why not?! I’ve been loving these 90′s dresses with the long split. I actually remember seeing my mom wearing something similar to this when I was a child. It’s funny how everything recycles itself and now I get to re-interpret this trend for myself.

This jacket is a beloved treasure of mine that I found some years ago. It hasn’t been in rotation for a while so I was happy to take it for a spin. It reminds me of the Hawaiian shirts that were very popular back in the day. Moving right along, I am obsessed with the simplicity of this ankle strap shoe, I think I will keep this style as a forever basic in my wardrobe until the End Of Time. It’s just so classic!

I’m Back, in full Floral effect! This is me, dreaming in color! Oh wait, this is actually my reality. If you follow me on Instagram, you’ll know that I have been obsessed with suits as of late. I was really inspired by the Roberto Cavalli suit worn by Karolina Kurkova a few months ago. I looked high and low for a similar suit but the price tags were outrageous! As I always do, I sought to create the look on an affordable budget (more comparative pricing details to come).

So I found this really kick ass option. If you look closely, you will see that this outfit isn’t a suit at all, but rather a close pairing of prints that I put together to mirror an actual suit. I admit florals aren’t for everyone, but I couldn’t resist trying this trend, and I loved the outcome. The great part about a suit is that the pieces can be worn together or separately which immediately opens up my outfit options. I decided to first wear this with a fitted blouse since the weather has been notably warmer. I also added sandals instead of pumps to give the look more of a summery vibe.

At certain angles, I’m certain I look like a moving teapot but I’m totally okay with that. The patterns are really pretty and a great way to stand out in a sea of solid colors. Can any of you guys see yourself trying this trend? Well with the savings I scored on this look, I’ll make it much easier for you to experiment without putting a gaping hole in your wallet. I love this shift dress mostly because of the unexpected neon zipper at the back and on the sleeves. The pink is really soft and perfect for spring. I wish I had more time to shoot these pics and provide better photos. I was running late for work and didn’t have much time. Either way, I’m happy the weather was good enough to allow me to wear this dress. I am a little saddened that the weather has not reached 75 or 80 degrees as of yet. I mean it’s already May, I look forward to sun around this time to lift my spirits. Since this doesn’t seem to be happening anytime soon, I am just going to have to go find my Sun. Currently looking at upcoming vacation spots with the hubby and DR is naturally on our list again, but Costa Rica is also something that has been popular as of late. My fiancé went to Africa last year and had a blast, we are thinking of doing South Africa together next year, and lastly one of my best friends has Singapore on the brain which I’m certainly willing to try if for nothing else than to pop over to Malaysia (close to Singapore) and get some hair extensions for much cheaper than I currently pay Do you guys have any upcoming trips that you are excited about? If yes, do share as I am always up for a new adventure.

Inspiration for this outfit came via Rihanna! I really liked the Celine ensemble she wore to the Roc Nation Brunch last year. The colors drew me in along with the fluidness/movement of both the blouse and the pants. I really enjoy living in comfortable clothes that are stylish, designer Pheobe Philo does a superb job at just that for her brand Celine; however, the prices are erroneously high and often above my price range. When I found this top at Forever21, I was floored by the quality and the movement. I sought a similar pair of ‘tuxedo’ like pants and found these at the Gap. It gives me a thrill to create a similar look to that of a designer outfit at a mere fraction of the price. More than anything it’s just nice to know that you don’t have to pay a fortune to look great and get good quality clothing.

The option of doing a wide-leg suit with platform heels or a slim fitted suit with open toe shoes a la Blake Lively and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley are both deliciously appealing. The ladies do a great job in not over accessorizing the looks and keeping everything simple so that the suit may do all the talking.

I love how funky Anna Del Russo kept both of her suited looks. The outfit in the middle also has great character with the inclusion of the beanie.

Everything about all of these looks makes me want to go shopping right now for one. Do they inspire you to jump on the bandwagon for this trend? Expect to see a similar look coming up shortly.

Sometimes, I just want to relax on the weekends. Not worry about doing too much with my hair and getting all prim and proper, but still look presentable. My Fiancé was kind enough to loan me his FLY hat this weekend (actually he had little choice in the matter). I love this hat, the colors are right up my alley and the best part is that the brim of the hat is actually made of leather material. I have been so excited to wear these Balenciaga sandals since I bought them. I had an obsession with them since last year after seeing this image on vogue street style feature. I kept them very casual with this look, and was elated to find that they are actually very comfortable. Wore them all day with no discomfort whatsoever. Oh, please don’t be offended by by Lion shirt mean mugging you, it’s all love, baby baby (BIG voice)!

Splendid Spring! I adore this floral print skirt, I found it on one of my shopping trips in Madrid last year. I think I got it for the bargain price of $10 bucks (whoo hoo!). I love diversifying my wardrobe with softer pieces like this skirt and just florals in general. They make me feel like such a girl, all warm and feminine inside. Two years ago, I invested in some “double stick tape’ and I think every woman should own one because it’s perfect for low-cut dresses and even unexpected wardrobe malfunctions. As you can see from the pics above it was very necessary for this top.

I kept the look really simple and uncluttered with accessories. I love accessories as much as the next girl but sometimes they can overcomplicate an outfit and lead to overkill. I always lean towards a very classic look with a minimalistic approach.

I had lunch in the park and thought the trees would be a great way to play off of the florals in my skirt. I wish I could do lunch outdoors more often because one of my favorite activities is People Watching. A great way to get inspiration and just take in the fundamental differences of us humans.  Even still, it’s refreshing to see that while we are all unique there are certain similarities that live in us all. Like fighting for the last empty seat in the parking and plotting for the space with the best shade

Yes, you read correctly I bought this body-con dress at Forever21. I got that question twice while out and about and both times, I got a ‘gasp, really!’ Interestingly enough, I am not a huge fan of the body-con bandage dresses. Its been done to ‘death’ for several years now and honestly I’ve already been there; done that.

Nonetheless, I do believe that all things are good in moderation, and there are some good qualities about this style of dress. The bad qualities being that I don’t foresee ever getting enough wear out of it, it’s a very typical throw away dress, and there is just not enough differentiation with this style. I said all that to say that when I came across this dress at Forever21 and felt the fabric, I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the material. I can’t remember the exact price but I’m certain it was under $40, which is what sold me on making the purchase to begin with as well as the solid grey color.

I paired it with these lovely Charlotte Olympia rainbow pumps. Can you tell I am currently having a love affair with Charlotte? I have to bring mention to my head wrap. Sometimes it’s nice to add a little something extra to spruce up an otherwise dull and predictable outfit. I loved the pop of color which complemented the dance party that was happening on my feet.

Is it just me, or are you just about over the bandage-dress trend, as well?  On the other hand, I suppose if it works…
