Instyle Workout

Hey Guys,

I was flipping through my monthly InStyle magazine, when it dawned on me that long gone are the days of working women doing the mad dash at 5p.m. to get home, having changed into God ugly sneakers while wearing a polished suit, (see Melanie Griffith in Working Girl). I remember seeing my aunt wearing those terribly ugly sneakers to work while dropping her kids off to school in the morning. I made a silent promise to myself that I would NEVER be caught dead in sneakers and a suit. To this day, I have never broken that promise made to myself until NOW. From a self professed heels lover, I have to admit that I have converted to the blooming trend of chic (emphasis on the word CHIC) sneakers worn with skirts and dresses. I really adore the sporty look and I have to admit that it does make my life easier when heading to the gym after work. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t usually start my work day wearing these sneakers, I don my heels when going to work like any self respecting woman should (no judgement if you don’t).

Nonetheless, I revel in the fact that when my feet begin to hurt I have some beautiful alternatives that do not come in the form of “flats”. After all, flats are not the most practical choice for a NY winter. Solange was at the helm of a new Puma rebranding project this year, and they have just named Rihanna as their Global ambassador and creative director. A great conquest for Puma, as Rihanna exudes great style and of-course a dominating social presence. I must say, I am looking forward to seeing what they have to offer come 2015 and what she will do for the resurgence of the brand. In the meantime, take a look at some chic ways to spruce up your sneaker game, and how to go from being a 5 inch Glamazon in heels to a 1 inch girl next door in sneaks. New Balances are my absolute favorite at the moment. They are comfy and square shaped, just how I like them. Now who wants to go for a run?
