Alicia & Roscoe 087

Hi Gang,

I hope everyone had a great weekend. I apologize for the lack of updates, last week I spent the entire week in the Hampton’s for work. It was a wonderful time, but I am still in recovery mode. It feels really nice to be back in my own bed and to get back into my normal routine of going to the gym and not ingesting junk food every day. However; enough about my eating habits, right now I want to talk about this new post. In the coming weeks/months i’ll be giving you all a peek inside of the build up to what I hope will be one of the most spectacular days of my life; my wedding day. I have intentionally orchestrated it so that the actual “day” will be refreshingly low-key. It will be devoid of things to fuss about, no big “to dos”, just a good ‘ol happy time with my family and dearest friends. With that being said, my friends and family who know me well are aware of just how much I enjoy photos. Predominantly because they unearth memories of the past, they bring joy in remembering the amazing moments of life, and most importantly they help to remember those who have passed on.  I’d be remiss if I didn’t say that they give me a darn good reason to dress up and look fancy. So, without further blah, blah, blah-ing, here is the first look at the engagement shoot that my fiancé and I did.

A little background story on the day of this shoot. I was so excited to get my hair done and have beautiful tumbling waves; sadly, the weather had a different set of plans in place for me. It was so unbearably hot and humid that I had to switch my hairstyle during the last minute and wound up combing it into a ponytail. I was really pissed about the whole thing especially because having natural hair with extensions is not the business on a very humid day. My edges were in attack mode. As you will note, I made the best of the situation and went on with the show.

As always, I hope you all enjoy the photos and for those of you who are planning or will be planning their nuptials soon; please promise to remember that it’s only one day. All of your energies should not be focused on stressing about making that one day perfect; but rather focusing on how best to be imperfect together from now until forever.

  1. Beautiful! You and your fiancé make a fine-looking couple! I love that B&W shot of you two on the balcony…you are giving us Dorothy Dandridge! I also like the last picture with the hanging decor. Best wishes as you prepare to get married! My fiancé and I will be doing the same next spring.
