Awards Dinner! What to wear to a formal work event!

Clutches: Antonio Melani and Kate Landry (I went with the second option)

Last week was my company’s 2013 Kick Off and it was jam packed with events and all day conferences. It’s always nice to get to hang out with coworkers from around the globe and interact outside of work. However, by the end of the week I was pooped from the non-stop meetings, to the after work events. Let’s just say I was really happy to usher in the weekend.

We had a formal awards dinner on Thursday evening which is where I wore the above ensemble. It’s sometimes tricky to dress for office events because there can be a fine line as to what is considered appropriate and inappropriate. My rule of thumb is that if you ever have to ask yourself “Is this appropriate?” or “Will this be eyebrow raising?”, you should nix that option and choose the more safe option. In this case, I chose this really lovely sequined number! I wanted to feel beautiful as I was also being recognized for my accomplishments last year. I’d only worn it once before at a wedding and thought it to be a great choice for the event.

I had a total blast and the food was AMAZING! If you’re ever in the mood for a good steak/salmon or even chicken for that matter, be sure to check out Del Frisco’s  which is where the event was held.
